Crowders Mtn
Metric Century Report
Thanks to Jack Moore, of the GCC, Gaston Bicycle, and
the Friends of Crowders Mtn, for organizing this annual ride which drew 133 participants
on a beautiful April Sunday.)

Ride of Silence: The
GCC will sponsor Gaston County's third participation in this important event on May 21 at
7:00 p.m.
The start/finish area is the Gaston County Courthouse, Marietta St, Gastonia, NC..
Riders will ride an 8 mile route in single file, and in silence, in memory of cyclists
killed in collisions with motor vehicles.
There is no fee for this ride, and we plan to have a police escort. The speed will
not exceed 12 mph, even going downhill.

| Jersey / Clothing Update: We
still anticipate receiving the club clothing order sometime in May. In addition to
jerseys, other items were offered. We were required to get requests for at least 10
of each item, and based on the orders received, we will be getting men's jerseys both
short-sleeve and sleeveless, women's jerseys both short-sleeve and sleeveless, men's
shorts, men's bib shorts, gloves, arm warmers, men's long-sleeve jerseys. The items
that didn't meet the required minimum are skinsuits and vests. |

Club Meetings: May Meeting Canceled!
Due to the Cinco de Mayo holiday, our host restaurant, Tequila Mexican, has notified us
that that will not have room for us.
Dinner meetings will not be held in June, July, or August. They will resume on
Monday, September 1, 2008. |

Jan 19 - May 17: Foothills Cyclists Training
Series BikeWays Shop, Spartanburg, SC, Hwy 9. Three fully
marked routes, 66 miles, 42 miles and 28 miles. Complete with preride goodies, sags,
and a great meal at Manny's at the conclusion of each ride. 9 a.m.
Dates: January 19th, February 9 , March 15th , April 5th and May
17th .
Bikeways will open its doors at 8am on January 19th with Hot Coffee and Hot Chocolate and
Goodies. The 66 mile and the 42 mile will have fully stocked SAG stops. Bikeways will be
having a 10% sale on Clothing and Accessories. As always there will be some great Raffle
prizes.
After the ride Manny's Restaurant will be serving Chicken over Rice with Salad and cold
drinks and it's another one of Manny's Great Meals.
The ride cost is $15.00 for non-members and $13.00 for members. |
