Gaston County Cyclists,
For the past few years Team Pfeiffer Cycling have had many great successes collegiate
racing. Their success could not have been possible without the support shown by the GCC. I
wanted to write and tell you that each and every collegiate racer thanks you all. I, as
Head Coach will always be grateful for all the support you gave my team. I have told many
riders and racers that our back to back ACCC conference wins was possible because the GCC
helped us get to the races, especially at the end of the season, when the need was
greatest.
As of this week I will no longer be affiliated with Pfeiffer University or Pfeiffer
Cycling. In a few weeks I will be moving to Bolivar, Missouri. My wife, Mo, has been
accepted into the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Southwest Baptist University.
This is a three year program so I will be gone for some time. I really regret leaving my
team. With the president of Pfeiffer leaving to take a position at the University of
Central Missouri cycling will change drastically at Pfeiffer. Cycling will now become a
club sport. Several of the collegiate racers have already moved on. I am very sad about
this situation. But I am also moving forward to a new cycling adventure.
At first I was going to accept the cycling head coach position at Southwest Baptist
University. The university wanted me to start a collegiate team there and try to duplicate
the success of Pfeiffer. But I now think I will retire from full time coaching. I now plan
to ride, hike and fish and then ride more.
Again, thank you all for going above the call of duty and supporting collegiate cycling. I
will always be proud to say I am a member of the best cycling club in the nation. All the
Gaston County Cyclist will always have my deepest appreciation.
Sincerely,
Tommie L. Brock
